Order of the Crimson Moon
The Order of the Crimson Moon is the faction the player belongs to. Per the official Crimson Moon Steam store page:
"Humanity's last hope is the Order of the Crimson Moon, and its most feared weapon is you."
Who they are
The Order is what remains of organized humanity after Gildenarch fell. They are not a government — they are a militant order dedicated to one purpose: fighting back the demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth abominations that took over Gildenarch.
The Order's headquarters is The Church (formerly called Sanctus Clypeus in earlier dev posts — see note below). This is where the player Nephilim returns between runs.
What they do
Based on official sources:
Naming note
Earlier Steam News posts (before launch) called the home base "Sanctus Clypeus" and the Order the "Knights of the Crimson Moon." The launch-day description (September 1, 2026) refers to it as "The Church" and "Order of the Crimson Moon."
Both names refer to the same in-game entities. The launch description is more recent and is the canonical naming for new content. We use the launch-day names throughout the wiki and cross-reference the earlier "Sanctus Clypeus" / "Knights" terminology for players who encounter it in pre-release materials.
