Gildenarch — The Fallen City

Gildenarch is the central location of Crimson Moon. Per the official Steam store page:

"The city of Gildenarch has fallen. Once a holy jewel, it is overrun by demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth abominations."

What Gildenarch is now

A fallen holy city overrun by:

  • Demons

  • Undead

  • Vampires

  • Hellgrowth abominations

  • "Humanity's last hope is the Order of the Crimson Moon, and its most feared weapon is you."

    The Wards

Per the official How Runs Work post:

"From there, you'll enter one of Gildenarch's Wards. Each Ward is made up of multiple replayable missions featuring enemies, elite encounters, mini-bosses, secrets, valuable loot, and a powerful boss waiting at the end."

A Ward is a section of Gildenarch with its own missions, enemies, and end-boss. The War Table at Sanctus Clypeus lets you select which Ward to enter next.

Specific Ward names are not in any official source. This section will be updated once the community surfaces them from gameplay.

    What you do in Gildenarch

The game's core activities in Gildenarch are described across multiple official sources:

  • Combat enemies in missions

  • Face elite encounters — tougher fights

  • Defeat mini-bosses — mid-Ward bosses

  • Find secrets — exploration rewards

  • Collect loot — weapons, armour, trinkets, consumables

  • Find Lore Scrolls — for Mereda at Sanctus Clypeus

  • Reach the end-boss — "powerful boss waiting at the end" of each Ward

  • Evolve your build — via Nexus Gates (see [How Builds Work](/guides/how-builds-work/))

  • The Infernal Legion

Per the official PlayStation Blog post (February 2026) ↗, the invading force has a name: the Infernal Legion. This is what overran Gildenarch.

The post frames the entire game loop around them:

"The ongoing invasion by the Infernal Legion makes every run a ritual of resistance where mastery, momentum, and mythic combat collide."

The Legion is composed of demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth — the four enemy categories named in the launch-day Steam description. The wiki does not yet have specific Legion commander or named-faction names.

    Dead Gods (end-of-Ward bosses)

Per the PlayStation Blog August 2026 post ↗, the legendary bosses you fight at the end of each Ward are Dead Gods:

"From your first steps inside Sanctus Clypeus to your final stand against the legendary Dead Gods, every hunt is an opportunity to discover powerful new gear, experiment with different builds, and push deeper into Gildenarch's increasingly dangerous Wards."

Specific Dead God names have not been published. The wiki will add them once official sources confirm them.

    Hellgrowth

One specific enemy type is named in the official Crusade Begins dev log:

"the fallen city of Gildenarch, the Nephilim, the Hellgrowth, and the horrors spreading through the streets beyond the walls."

Hellgrowth is treated as a distinct category — likely a corrupted/abomination type, distinct from standard demons, undead, and vampires. Specific Hellgrowth enemy names and behaviors are not in any official source.

    What's confirmed vs. unconfirmed

    Confirmed in official sources:
  • Gildenarch is the main setting

  • Overrun by demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth

  • Divided into Wards (each a set of replayable missions)

  • Each Ward has enemies, elites, mini-bosses, secrets, loot, and an end-boss

  • Unconfirmed (will be updated as community discovers):
  • Specific Ward names

  • Specific end-boss (Dead God) names

  • Specific enemy types per Ward

  • Specific named locations within Gildenarch

  • Map layout
